Job description templates

Save the job descriptions you write again and again, and start any new job from one.

Job description templates are saved job descriptions your team can start from when creating or editing a job. Picking one copies it into the job's description, where you can change anything for that job. Templates are shared by everyone at your agency.

Owners and admins create and edit templates in Settings → Job descriptions. Anyone who can create jobs can use them. If you don't see this page, ask your agency owner.

Create a template

  1. Go to Settings → Job descriptions and click New template.
  2. Give it a Template name, for example "HHA — Brooklyn, full time". Only your team sees the name. Each name can only be used once.
  3. Write the Description.
  4. Click Save template.

To change a template, click the pencil next to it. To remove one, click the bin, then Delete.

Writing the description

The editor has two views. Switch between them with Visual and HTML in the editor's top-right corner.

  • Visual: format as you type. Use the toolbar for paragraphs, headings and subheadings, bold, italic, links, bulleted lists and numbered lists.
  • HTML: edit the description's HTML directly, or paste HTML you already have.

Headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, bulleted and numbered lists, and links are kept. Anything else, such as tables, colours or images, is removed when you save, because job boards won't show it. In the HTML view, a note under the box lists anything that will be removed.

Tip: The job title is already the main heading on your job page, so start your sections with Heading or Subheading.

Save a job's description as a template

You can also save a description you wrote on a job, so your team can reuse it.

  1. On the job form, under Job description, click Save as template.
  2. Check the Template name. It starts as the job title. Each name can only be used once.
  3. Click Save template.

The description is saved as it is at that moment. The job keeps its own copy, and you don't need to save the job first. Only owners and admins see Save as template.

Write a first draft with AI

Click Write with AI above the description, check the Job title, and click Write description. It takes a few seconds. AI writes a draft from the title alone, so anything it can't know, like pay, hours, location and benefits, comes back in [brackets] for you to fill in. Read the draft through and change anything that isn't true for your agency before you save.

A draft replaces whatever is in the description. If you change your mind, click undo in the editor's toolbar.

Use a template on a job

  1. Create a job, or open one and click Edit job.
  2. In Job description, choose a template from Start from a template.
  3. If the job already has a description, you're asked first. Click Replace to use the template, or Keep current.
  4. Change anything you need for this job, then save the job as usual.

If your agency has no templates yet, the list says No templates yet. Owners and admins see a Create a template link beside it, which opens Settings in a new tab so the job you're writing isn't lost.

The same editor is on the job form, so you can switch to HTML there too.

Note: A job keeps its own copy of the description. Editing or deleting a template later doesn't change jobs that already used it.
